Highschool...?

Jared opened his eyes
slowly, waking up from a good night's sleep. He sat up lazily in his bed,
yawning widely. He looked at the clock. 7:48 AM. He then did a double take.
"7:48?!" He yelled, and jumped out from his covers. He quickly
slipped on his clothes and ran downstairs. He skidded into the kitchen and
looked frantically for something to eat. He grabbed a handful of cheerios and
called it good. He figured he'd just buy lunch at school, even though it was
hideously disgusting. He fixed his hair a little bit and charged for the front
door. He swung it open, running through it, and slamming it behind him. He
hopped into his old car, and tried to turn on the ignition. All that was heard
was a "St-st-st-st!" He hit the dashboard out of frustration and
jumped out of the car. He ran as fast as possible over his friend Miomi's
house. He ran up to the door quickly, and he pounded his fist against it.
Miomi's mom opened the door, and smiled brightly. "Hey Jar-" She was
cut off by Jared zooming past her. He leaped up the stairs and stopped suddenly
right in from of Miomi's door. His fist thumped rapidly on it as he yelled, "Miomi!"
Miomi slowly opened the door, still in her night shirt. She rubbed her eyes sleepily.”
What?" She asked drowsily, wondering why the heck Jared was here. Jared
sighed. "Where is your brain?! We have to get to school!" He yelled
straight in her face. Miomi stood still for a few seconds, but then her eyes
widened. "School? Oh crap!" She screamed, and started ripping off her
night shirt, scrambling around for some clothes. Jared quickly turned around,
amazed by her forgetfulness, including shutting the door while changing. As
soon as Miomi was done changing, she ran out the door and snatched Jared's
wrist, racing down the stairs and out the door that had been left open. She
skidded to a stop. "Um... car?" Miomi asked. Jared rolled his eyes
and said, "It wouldn't start." She shrugged and hopped into the
driver's seat of her convertible, which was fairly new. Jared followed and
jumped into the passenger's seat. He didn't understand why they always drove in
his car and not her new one. Miomi turned on the ignition and zoomed down the
street, heading towards the school, only a couple blocks away. Approaching the
school, Miomi's eyes skimmed in the parking lot looking for an open spot. Of
course the only one open was the farthest away from the school. She slipped her
car into it, and ripped the keys out. Jared jumped out of the car. Miomi followed,
but instead of jumping, it was more like flying leap. Her foot had caught on
the top of the car door, and she landed on the ground, her face flat on the
pavement. She got up quickly and shook it off, ignoring the bruise that was
starting to form on her cheek. The two friends ran through the school doors
into the hall. They panted in the hallway, and started walking towards their
lockers. "7:54. We're lucky," Miomi gasped.
They headed towards homeroom, when they saw a small group of students
forming just a couple lockers away. They heard Shane yelling. Miomi's features
instantly filled with worriment. Shane could get pretty vicious when he was angry.
She pushed through the group so she could see what was going on.
Shane was shoving Steven, yelling at him for no reason she could see. Miomi's eyes
darted over to Lauryn, Shane's friend, seeing her on the ground crying. "What happened?"
Miomi asked harshly, directing it to the closest student. The student
whispered intently, "Shane yelled at Lauryn that he loved her when she
asked what was wrong. Then Steven told him it wasn't nice to yell at people, and
then the fight began." Miomi pushed the kid aside, and stood between the
two guys. "What's wrong with you guys?!" Miomi screamed at both of
them. She had just happened to stand in the middle while Shane was throwing a
punch, and it landed straight in the middle of her face. "Mmm..."
Miomi mumbled, holding her nose as blood poured from it. She collapsed to the
ground, as her vision turned slowly to black.

Miomi's eyes fluttered open slowly, coming
back to her senses with an unbearable headache. She pushed her black hair out of the way that was blocking her view. She jumped from
surprise of seeing the school nurse leaning over her, tsking. "It's too
bad you got involved in that fight. You could've had a broken nose!"
The school nurse scolded. Miomi licked her dry lips, and tasted blood.
She lifted her hand to her nose and winced in pain. She looked at
her hand to see it covered in blood. "Ugh..." Miomi moaned. She
couldn't stand the smell, look or taste of blood. "Idiot guys..." she
groaned. The school nurse tsked some more and grabbed some tissues.
"Here," she said, handing Miomi the tissues, "Oh, and also you have two
visitors!" Miomi rolled her eyes and slowly sat up in the bed. The
nurse walked out and seconds later brought in with Steven and Jared.
"Well, I need to take care of the other patients, so I'll let these two
guys take care of you!" The school nurse beamed. Miomi attempted to
snort, but yelped in pain. She held the tissues to her nose. "So, why'd
you guys come?" Miomi snapped. She was not happy that her nose was
bleeding uncontrollably. "Well, I was feeling bad that you had to take
the punch for me, even though you didn't do on purpose," Steven said,
scratching his head nervously. Jared rolled his eyes and asked, "Why
wouldn't I be here?" Then he sighed, "Are you okay?" Miomi wiped some
blood away from her nose and mumbled, "I'm still living, aren't I?"
Steven observed, "The blood's stopping, so at least that's good."
Miomi's face lit up happily. "Really?" She asked, her anger wiped away.
Steven and Jared nodded in unison. Miomi then leaped out of bed and ran
towards the door to the nurse's office, grabbing hold of both of the
guys' wrists. "I'm all better!" Miomi yelled, and burst through the
door. She suddenly skidded to a stop. "What time is it?" She asked.
Steven replied, "3:32, exactly." Miomi groaned. She had missed a whole
day of school! How could a simple punch in the nose do that? "Well,
then I have to get home. I'll see you guys tomorrow then?" Miomi asked.
Steven blushed lightly and stuttered, "Y-yeah..." Jared nodded.
Miomi
left the school after waving a quick goodbye to Steven and Jared. She
arrived home humming a little tune, and walked inside her house,
throwing the keys on the counter. She climbed up the stairs and went
straight to her messy room. She made a pathway through her room and sat in the chair in front of her desk. She then
logged onto her computer. As her slow computer was loading, she thought she heard a whirring sound.
She ignored it, until it got louder and louder. She got up out of her
chair, annoyed. Miomi then listened quietly until she heard exactly
where the noise was coming from. "Under my bed?" Miomi mused. She laid
down on the carpet and peeked under her bed. She gasped in excitement
and fright. A large vortex was spinning around underneath her bed! How
cool was this?! She got up picked up her cellphone up off the desk; she had to tell Jared about this! Just as she was dialing Jared's number, she spun around to see that all her magazines and clothes were being sucked underneath her bed. Miomi cocked her head, not understanding. Suddenly she herself was being pulled forcefully closer and closer to underneath her bed. She screamed in horror. Miomi was now inches away from the vortex, and was sucked into it. She screamed as she saw varieties of colors floating about her. This was too unreal. Miomi's mind was overwhelmed with fright and curiosity, causing her to pass out.
